Arlington—Americans for Prosperity-Virginia State Director Sean Lansing issued the following statement today concerning reports that the Virginia General Assembly has agreed to pass a clean budget without Medicaid expansion:
“Reports that both houses of the General Assembly have agreed to pass a clean spending plan is welcome news for 8.1 million Virginians who rely on a state budget every year and a majority of Commonwealth citizens who oppose Medicaid expansion. We applaud the House of Delegates for remaining committed to a clean budget despite the pressures that were exerted by Governor McAuliffe’s Washington-style politics, and we commend the Senate for reportedly agreeing to work with their colleagues to avoid disaster. It is now incumbent upon Governor McAuliffe to sign a clean budget and to drop his threat of Medicaid expansion by executive fiat so that we can all begin the work of moving Virginia forward.”
