Legislation protects freedom of Virginians to negotiate directly with their doctor to receive medical care at a lower cost

RICHMOND – Americans for Prosperity – Virginia is urging Governor Terry McAuliffe to sign SB 800, legislation that would protect the freedom of Virginians to enter into Direct Primary Care agreements with their doctor. Direct primary care enables Virginians to enter into a direct agreement with their doctor to receive primary care services for themselves and their families for a reasonable, prepaid monthly fee – without a middleman insurance company.

AFP-VA Acting State Director JC Hernandez offered the following statement: “Where Obamacare failed to give Virginians more control over the costs and choices of their healthcare, SB800 actually succeeds. Direct primary care is a real step towards lowering healthcare costs by giving people more freedom in their healthcare decisions. Now that the legislature has passed the bill, the Governor’s signature is the only thing standing between Virginia’s families and their doctors. We hope he will sign it quickly.”
