Bill will empower parents to send their child to the school that best meets their needs

RICHMOND – Americans for Prosperity – Virginia is calling on Governor McAuliffe to sign HB1605 – a bill creating Parental Choice Education Savings Accounts (ESAs). ESAs allow parents to put money into a tax-free account that they can use for to pay for tuition and other qualified educational expenses.

AFP-VA Acting State Director JC Hernandez issued the following statement:

“While the wealthy can afford to send their children to whatever school they want, too many families can’t afford to send their children to the school they need. Education Savings Accounts are a simple but important step towards empowering low-income parents to help obtain the best possible education for their child. HB1605 provides urgently needed relief to families across Virginia who need more educational outcomes. We hope Gov. McAuliffe will sign this bill into law.”
