AFP Statement on April Job Numbers

Arlington, Va. – Americans for Prosperity Senior Policy Analyst Austen Bannan issued the following statement on today’s jobs report showing the economy added only 266,000 jobs, well below economists’ expectations:

“These job numbers show we can’t take economic recovery for granted. Our economy is moving in the right direction, but the better way to speed recovery is to focus on clearing the way for folks to get back to work safely and for small businesses to reopen – not trillions in reckless federal spending. At the same time, we need to reject efforts to restrict flexible work and employment growth that would result from congressional efforts to implement the PRO Act or make it harder for small businesses to hire workers.”
