AFP Statement: Americans Lose Under White House Tariff Policy

Arlington, Va. – Americans for Prosperity today stressed opposition to President Trump’s plans to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

AFP President Tim Phillips issued the following statement:

“It’s disappointing the administration moved forward with these tariffs, which will dump new tax burdens on Americans and threaten the benefits of tax reform and regulatory relief.

“Tariffs undermine free markets and free societies, whether they are imposed across the board or are narrowly tailored to manipulate certain sectors of the economy.

“Millions of innocent Americans stand to lose when they are forced to pay higher prices due to misguided government actions.”
