AFP-SC Commends Governor McMaster for Protecting Businesses from Frivolous Lawsuits

COLUMBIA, SC – Following Governor McMaster signing S. 147, a bill that protects South Carolina businesses from frivolous lawsuits regarding allegations of exposure to COVID-19, Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina Interim State Director Candace Carroll issued the following statement:

“Businesses who safely reopen and take proper precautions for COVID-19 should not be faced with frivolous lawsuits. When many businesses are struggling to keep their doors open, the last thing we should do is make it easier to usher in a flood of lawsuits that makes it even harder for them to recover. We thank Governor McMaster for protecting South Carolina businesses who follow public health guidance and ensuring our state does not lose its competitive edge to the other 39 states who have passed similar laws.”
