In a recent Washington Post article, a number of claims were made that wrongly frame AFP’s efforts as trying to influence elections on the state or federal level.
AFP promotes and educates on free market policies, organizes grassroots pressure on lawmakers, and gives activists the tools to make a difference on issues that matter to them. AFP does not operate in terms of election cycles, does not support any political party, and as a rule does not support candidates for office.
A core principle of free democracy is to tell elected officials when we agree or disagree with their actions, and the most effective time to do that is close to an election when issues that impact the lives of every American are being most fiercely debated. We think it is important to hold elected officials accountable for their actions, and will praise or criticize based on economic liberty issues regardless of political party.
AFP’s efforts are focused on building towards long-term change and policy victories that advance economic freedom, and we will continue to ensure the voices of millions of Americans are heard on local, state, and federal issues.
