COLUMBUS – Americans for Prosperity – Ohio State issued the following statement in support of today’s vote by the Senate on HB 289. HB 289, which would stop the creation of Joint Economic Development Zones (JEDZ) and prohibit the renewal of a JEDZ contract after December 31, 2014, has already passed the House.
“Our activists in Jefferson Township were recently engaged on this issue. Thankfully the trustees rescinded the proposed JEDZ ballot resolution there,” said Eli Miller, Americans for Prosperity Ohio State Director. “We applaud the members of the Senate for voting today in support of HB 289 and thwarting the creation of new JEDZs, which have all too often become a means to grab more tax dollars rather than promote economic development.”
