AFP-NM Issues Key Vote Alert on Felon Voting Rights Record

SANTA FE, NM – Americans for Prosperity-New Mexico (AFP-NM) issued a Key Vote Alert to state representatives urging them to support HB 74, a bill that would restore voting rights to people with felony records.

In the Key Vote Alert to lawmakers, AFP-NM State Director Burly Cain writes:

“Denying someone the right to vote who has paid their debt to society and served their sentence is unjust and immoral. We should be removing barriers for people who are coming back into society and treating them like full citizens, so they have a better chance of succeeding and making our communities stronger. Restoring voting rights will help make our criminal justice system more just, improve public safety, and give real second chances to New Mexicans who have earned them.”
