AFP – MO Celebrates Reagan’s Birthday w/ Peggy Grande & Auditor Schweich

Feb 10, 2014 by AFP

Chesterfield, MO – Snow, blistering cold, and dicey road conditions couldn’t keep Missourians away from celebrating Ronald Reagan’s 103rd birthday with Americans for Prosperity – Missouri.  Peggy Grande and State Auditor Schweich joined us to celebrate Ronald Reagan’s life, leadership, and legacy.

Peggy Grande had the honor to serve as Ronald Reagan’s personal assistant for a decade in his post presidential office in Los Angeles.  The large crowd of Missourians who joined us hung on every word as Peggy shared some of her favorite Reagan stories, showed behind the scenes photos from her personal collection, and recounted the lessons learned from her front row seat to history.

In her remarks, Peggy focused on highlighting President Reagan’s authenticity, kindness, optimism, and impact.  Many seek to emulate President Reagan and Peggy was kind enough to give our audience the secret to his success, “If someone really wants to be like Ronald Reagan, it’s pretty easy – be of good cheer, be honest, think of others, and do your best.  Tell people what you believe and why you believe it, but also be open to other points of view.”

While Peggy shared stories about President Reagan in his post presidency years, State Auditor Schweich joined us to give us a glimpse into his Hollywood years.  Auditor Schweich was kind enough to share some fantastic pieces from his Ronald Reagan movie memorabilia collection. His collection included authentic movie posters, signed memorabilia, rare promotional materials.

Thank you to all those who braved the elements to join us for this fantastic event!
