AFP-Missouri Commends House for Passing Bill Easing Hair Braiding Licensing

Jan 17, 2018 by AFP

Jefferson City, MO – Americans for Prosperity (AFP) – Missouri applauds the Missouri House for passing HB 1500, a bill that would reduce over-burdensome licensing requirements for hair braiders. According to estimates, hair braiders must complete 1,500 hours of training, which can cost upwards of $25,000. HB 1500 would significantly reduce the licensing requirements by only mandating they pass a test on proper sanitation methods.

“We applaud the members of the House for passing this legislation so quickly,” said AFP-Missouri State Director Jeremy Cady. “By modifying licensing requirements to an appropriate level, this commonsense bill will give many Missourians a chance at a better life by doing what they love. We look forward to the Senate quickly passing its corresponding legislation so we can have the bill signed soon.”
