AFP-Missouri Applauds Senate for Passing Bill that Bolsters Worker Rights

Feb 14, 2018 by AFP

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Americans for Prosperity-Missouri (AFP-MO) released a statement following the Senate’s vote to approve HB 1413, a bill that would greatly expand worker freedoms in the Show Me State. The bill includes provisions that would require an employee’s annual consent for labor organizations to use dues and fees for political purposes, require unions to hold recertification elections every three years, and would eliminate “evergreen clauses” during negotiations.

“The Senate provided an extra boost to the working class in passing this bill,” said AFP-MO State Director Jeremy Cady. “Implementing paycheck protection, union recertification, and removing the ‘evergreen clause’ will further empower public workers and also ensure Missourian’s tax dollars are protected. We commend the Senate for building off the landmark right-to-work legislation and our focus on increasing opportunities for all Missourians.”
