AFP Looks to Innovate Health Care in Mississippi

RIDGELAND, MS—Americans for Prosperity-Mississippi (AFP-MS) yesterday held an event focusing on how to advance innovative, patient-centered health care reforms across the state. This event kicked off the grassroots organization’s upcoming efforts for the 2020 legislative session that will seek to tackle one of the Magnolia State’s toughest issues.

The panel featured leaders in health care who focus on new technologies, new ways of paying for health care, and other methods of increasing access, improving quality, and lowering costs without expanding the state’s broken Medicaid system. Speakers included: Americans for Prosperity State Director Trey Dellinger, Telehealth One’s CEO Todd Barrett, Former CEO of Venture Technologies Gerard Gibert, Nurse Practitioner Amanda Greene, and Direct Primary Care Doctor Michael Sanders.

AFP-MS State Director Trey Dellinger issued the following statement:

“Every Mississippian deserves access to quality, affordable health care for their family. As we gear up for 2020’s legislative session, our state must increase access to providers by lowering regulatory barriers like certificate of need laws and scope of practice restrictions. We should also embrace innovative technologies and means of paying for care. AFP is eager to share this positive vision for health care, and present new ideas to improve health care access and outcomes across the Magnolia State.”

As the grassroots group continues to gear up to legislative session, details regarding its health care policy priorities will be released.
