AFP Launches Major New TV, Digital Effort on Hassan Budget

MANCHESTER – The New Hampshire chapter of Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) will launch a major new piece of the effort to hold Governor Hassan accountable for new tax and spending hikes she wants to implement, and press for a more sensible state budget.

The ad asks viewers to call Hassan’s office and tell her New Hampshire can’t afford more tax hikes. The $1.2 million buy launches August 10 and will run for several weeks on broadcast and cable.

AFP-NH State Director Greg Moore had the following to say:

“Governor Hassan demanded more taxes so that she can keep on overspending our money — even on things like Medicaid expansion, which is already proving a costly failure. Despite our efforts to press for a more sensible budget in the legislature, the governor has simply dug in her heels. We’re planning to continue a wall-to-wall effort, including activating our grassroots force, to secure some tax relief for the state.

The group had previously applauded the New Hampshire House for stripping out the permanent Medicaid expansion provision and tax increases from Governor Hassan’s proposed budget, but she vetoed that attempt and began a protracted standoff.
