AFP Key Vote: YES on the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch for Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court

Apr 3, 2017 by AFP

Dear Senators:

On behalf of more than 3.2 million Americans for Prosperity activists in all 50 states, I write to encourage you to support the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch for the position of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. In February, President Donald Trump nominated Judge Gorsuch to fill the vacancy left by Justice Antonin Scalia, and we are encouraged to see the Senate act this week to consider his nomination.

We urge a YES vote on the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch for Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Americans for Prosperity will include this vote in our congressional scorecard.

The American people deserve a qualified, mainstream candidate like Judge Gorsuch. He is highly qualified and has extensive experience impartially interpreting the Constitution and Congress’ statutes in their original intent. As a Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals of the Tenth Circuit – for which he was unanimously confirmed by the Senate in 2006 – Judge Gorsuch displayed a commitment to applying the law in an impartial manner and upholding the Constitution in its original intent. He demonstrates commitment to protecting individual rights from government overreach and preserving the rule of law.

Judge Gorsuch has a long record of exercising judicial restraint. His opinions respect the rule of law and adhere to the principles of federalism and separation of powers. He doesn’t legislate from the bench: Judge Gorsuch shows dedication to follow law text as it’s written, rather than use it to try to advance a political agenda. Judge Gorsuch will respect the role of the courts in our republic, faithfully defend individual liberties, and uphold the Constitutional limits on the federal government and its bureaucracy.

We urge a YES vote on the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch for Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Americans for Prosperity will include this vote in our congressional scorecard.
