On behalf of more than 2.8 million Americans for Prosperity activists in all 50 states, I write to urge you to vote YES on Restoring Access to Medication Act of 2015, H.R. 1270, which removes restrictions that prohibit Americans from using funds from their Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) on over-the-counter medications.
We urge you to vote YES on Restoring Access to Medication Act of 2015, H.R. 1270. Americans for Prosperity will include this vote in our congressional scorecard.
The HSA is a powerful healthcare tool that puts the power of managing personal well-being back in the hands of patients by allowing them to customize, plan, and prepare for their own healthcare needs. By enhancing the ability of HSAs to pay for everyday healthcare costs, including over-the-counter medications, H.R. 1270 strengthens HSAs and makes them an even more valuable tool in promoting the health of all Americans. A variety of mild to moderate medical conditions, like allergies and acid indigestion, can be easily and effectively treated by over-the-counter medications. Removing the over-the-counter medication restraint on HSAs increases access to proven, quality medications for these common, chronic conditions.
Since the passage of the president’s healthcare law in 2010, Americans have been struggling with skyrocketing healthcare costs. There is no relief in sight, either, with insurance premiums set for double-digit increases in 2017. Tools like the HSA help Americans cope with these exorbitant costs. This is why it is essential, now more than ever, to free HSAs from the restrictive red tape of Obamacare and put some control over healthcare back into the hands of everyday Americans.
We urge you to vote YES on Restoring Access to Medication Act of 2015, H.R. 1270. Americans for Prosperity will include this vote in our congressional scorecard.
