AFP KEY Vote: YES on H.J. Res. 69

Feb 13, 2017 by AFP

Dear Representatives:

On behalf of more than 3.2 million Americans for Prosperity activists in all 50 states, I write with great appreciation for your efforts in using the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to bring permanent regulatory relief to millions of Americans. We are encouraged to see further efforts this week with floor consideration of a resolution disapproving the Department of Interior’s (Interior) rule related to wildlife take procedures on National Wildlife Refuges in Alaska.

We urge YES votes on H. J. Res. 69 disapproving of the Interior Rule relating to Non-Subsistence Take of Wildlife, and Public Participation and Closure Procedures on National Wildlife Refuges in Alaska. Americans for Prosperity will include this vote in our congressional scorecard.

CRA resolutions ensure Congress can quickly exercise its oversight authority, and rein in the regulatory fiat of unelected bureaucrats. The Constitution delegates lawmaking powers to Congress, not federal administrators. We support using the CRA to roll back the Department of Interior’s overreach, bring regulatory relief to the American people, and prevent similar expansions in the future.

The Interior Rule relating to Non-Subsistence Take of Wildlife, and Public Participation and Closure Procedures on National Wildlife Refuges in Alaskaundermines the ability of Alaskans to manage fish and wildlife on refuge lands, which make up more than 20 percent of the state. Instead, Congress should work with the Trump administration to ensure cooperative federalism and greater public participation over fish and wildlife management decisions.

We urge YES votes on H. J. Res. 69, disapproving of the Interior Rule relating to Non-Subsistence Take of Wildlife, and Public Participation and Closure Procedures on National Wildlife Refuges in Alaska. Americans for Prosperity will include these votes in our congressional scorecard.
