AFP KEY Vote: YES on H.Con.Res. 71

Oct 3, 2017 by AFP

Dear Representatives:

On behalf of more than 3.2 million Americans for Prosperity activists in all 50 states, I urge a YES vote on H.Con.Res. 71, the House Republican fiscal year 2018 budget resolution.  The unified framework on tax reform recently released by President Trump and the “Big Six” negotiators in Congress and the Administration will provide much-needed relief for Americans families and businesses. The next step is agreeing to a budget resolution with reconciliation instructions that pave the way for tax reform.

We urge you to vote YES on H.Con.Res. 71, the House Republican fiscal year 2018 budget resolution. Americans for Prosperity will include this vote in our congressional scorecard.

The House budget resolution includes many important reforms that would restore responsibility in our federal finances. It balances the budget in ten years with $6.5 trillion in deficit reduction and seeks around $200 billion in entitlement savings— the largest reform to mandatory spending programs in a decade. Most notably, it provides a pathway for passing comprehensive, pro-growth tax reform in 2017.

Passing a budget resolution is the first step toward delivering a fairer, flatter, and simpler tax code that works better for everyday Americans. A vote against the budget resolution is effectively a vote against tax reform. A vote against the budget resolution is a vote for the status quo and the status quo is unacceptable. Conservatives in Washington should not miss this once-in-a-generation opportunity.

We urge you to vote YES on H.Con.Res. 71, the House Republican fiscal year 2018 budget resolution. Americans for Prosperity will include this vote in our congressional scorecard.
