Dear Representatives:
On behalf of more than 3.2 million Americans for Prosperity activists in all 50 states, I write urging you to vote YES on the Common Sense Nutrition Disclosure Act of 2017 (H.R. 772), which would reduce the burden on small businesses trying to comply with menu labeling requirements under the President’s health care law.
We urge you to vote YES on H.R. 772, the Common Sense Nutrition Disclosure Act of 2017 (H.R. 772). Americans for Prosperity will include this vote in our congressional scorecard.
The FDA menu labeling rule mandates that businesses provide nutritional information for their menu items, a burden falling particularly hard on restaurants, convenience stores, and grocery stores. The unintended consequence is that thousands of small businesses will have to absorb the cost in providing new menu displays—a cost that they will ultimately pass onto American consumers.
The Commons Sense Nutrition Disclose Act of 2017 (H.R. 772) seeks to remedy this glaring instance of the ever-growing regulatory state that continually burdens so many businesses with unnecessary and expensive red tape. Although some larger chains appear to welcome new regulations, they often do so because expensive regulations disadvantage smaller competitors. We believe that Members should support market-based competition and reject the crony capitalism driving much of the opposition to this legislation.
We urge you to vote YES on H.R. 772, the Common Sense Nutrition Disclosure Act of 2017 (H.R. 772). Americans for Prosperity will include this vote in our congressional scorecard.
