AFP Key Vote Alert: YES on Barton Amendment to Lift Crude Oil Export Ban

Dec 2, 2015 by AFP

Dear Representatives,

On behalf of more than 2.8 million Americans for Prosperity activists in all 50 states, I write to urge you to support the Barton amendment to H.R. 8, which would repeal the ban on crude oil exports.

We urge you to vote YES on the Barton amendment to H.R. 8 that would repeal the Crude Oil Export Ban.

Multiple independent studies have found that repealing the ban would benefit the economy. NERA economic consulting estimates that repealing the ban would inject between $600 billion and $1.8 trillion into the domestic economy, and national unemployment would fall by an average of 200,000 jobs. The Aspen Institute found that household income would increase between $2000 and $3000 by 2025. Furthermore, the U.S. Energy Information Administration found that repealing the current law would not raise gasoline prices and may even lower them.

We also urge you to oppose efforts to tie lifting the ban on crude oil exports to extending handouts for green energy such as the wind production tax credit or the solar investment tax credit.

We urge you to vote YES on the Barton amendment to H.R. 8 that would repeal the Crude Oil Export Ban.

AFP is proud to support the Barton amendment to repeal the crude oil export ban as a key element of our Reform America 2015 agenda.
