AFP Key Vote Alert: Vote “No” on the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018 (H.R. 2)

Dear Representatives:

On behalf of more than 3.2 million activists in all 50 states, I write urging you to vote NO on the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018 (H.R. 2), which would continue to subsidize massive corporate welfare policies at the expense of the taxpayer.

We urge you to vote NO on H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018.  Americans for Prosperity will include your vote in our congressional scorecard.

In a time of extreme overspending by the federal government, Congress had an excellent opportunity in the Farm Bill to responsibly and comprehensively overhaul this massive bill that has historically been loaded up with corporate welfare provisions and wasteful spending. Unfortunately, H.R. 2 completely ignores this opportunity and instead delivers more of the same bad policies and leaves taxpayers on the hook.

From market-distorting subsidies, to guaranteed farmer profits, to handouts for special interests, H.R. 2 remains littered with government programs that cost taxpayers billions each year.  While there are some decent reforms to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, they are rendered almost meaningless when any savings are redirected into workforce programs that have shown poor results.  This Farm Bill has, yet again, proven to be another example of the federal government picking winners and losers, expecting taxpayers to foot the bill.  Members should reject this kind of blatant cronyism and wasteful spending by opposing this legislation.

We urge you to vote NO on H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018.  Americans for Prosperity will include your vote in our congressional scorecard.
