Collier County Commissioners Defer Tax Hike

Sep 6, 2018 by AFP

Naples, FL – Following a 5-0 vote to defer a proposal to increase utility fees to address storm water challenges, Americans for Prosperity-Florida (AFP-FL) today commended the Collier County commissioners for deferring this tax increase. The proposal was the second new tax hike proposed by the commissioners this year. Recently, Collier County citizens voted down an additional fire assessment, but face increases to their property tax.

AFP-FL State Director, and Naples resident, Chris Hudson released the following statement:

“Collier County commissioners took a step in demonstrating they can protect taxpayers by deferring this unnecessary tax increase. Asking taxpayers for more of their money should not be the first resort to address something as basic as storm water. Our activists and concerned Collier County residents will continue to speak out and make their voices heard that this tax increase is not acceptable. Although this is a step in the right direction, we urge the county commissioners to kill this tax hike once and for all.”

Background:

AFP-FL launched a digital campaign connecting citizens with the Collier County Commissioners urging them to reject the tax increase.
