ARLINGTON, VA – President Trump today announced plans to give away $16 billion in new trade subsidies to American farmers hurt by the ongoing tariff war. Americans for Prosperity urged the administration to abandon protectionist trade policies harming farmers, workers, business owners, and families across the country.
AFP Vice President of Economic Opportunity Russell Latino issued the following statement:
“Today’s announcement is emblematic of a dangerous ‘carrot and stick’ game, where $16 billion in bailouts are being offered to farmers as a concession for harm created by flawed trade policies. The administration should allow farmers to compete in an open market instead of rigging the economy to favor some, and burdening all Americans with this increasingly expensive trade war.”
