AFP Echoes Asm. Dancer’s Call for Eliminating the Inheritance Tax

New Jersey shouldn’t punish people for their success in life

MONMOUTH JUNCTION – Americans for Prosperity is echoing Asm. Ronald Dancer’s (R-12) call for the elimination of the inheritance tax.  The Dancer-backed bill, A1281, which is also has as primary sponsors, Assemblymen Declan O’Scanlon (R-13) and Thomas Giblin (D-34), would repeal the inheritance tax and also raise the filing threshold for the estate tax which today stands at $675,000.

“Assemblyman Dancer points out what we have pointed out time and time again: you don’t want New Jersey to be your last place of residence when the Good Lord calls your name,” said AFP state director Daryn Iwicki. “Asm. Dancer’s bill to end the inheritance tax is a great starting point.  We’re glad to see him join Senators Sarlo, Oroho, and Van Drew who have called for the removal of both the estate tax and inheritance tax.”

“It is great to see this begin to move forward and so many people on both sides of the aisle beginning to talk about these two death taxes,” continued Iwicki. “People work hard in life.  To not be able to leave behind with loved ones the things you cherished in life without penalty is just shameful. People leave our state for a variety of tax reasons, but these two taxes in particular are all the reason retirees need to flee New Jersey for far-friendlier tax states.”

“AFP looks forward to working with the Legislature on these two measures and to make the elimination of both of these immoral taxes a reality,” Iwicki concluded.
