Americans for Prosperity to Hold Press Conference Before Tonight’s City Council Meeting

Greenville – Today the Greenville County Council will meet again to discuss and vote on a bill to initiate a referendum that would levy the largest sales tax hike in county history.  If the bill is passed and the referendum succeeds, the size and scope of government would dramatically expand.

“A vote for referendum is a vote to dramatically expand the size and scope of government,” said Americans for Prosperity South Carolina state director Dave Schwartz.  “If this passes, it will mean more government employees, more spending and even more red tape for Greenville County residents.”

AFP will be holding a press conference at 5:15pm in front of the Greenville County Council Office to discuss the spending hike and what it means for County residents.  The chart below illustrates exactly how much county government would expand in such a short period of time.
