This morning AFP-Wisconsin, the state’s foremost advocate for economic freedom, issued a statement as details of a budget deal from the Budget Conference Committee continue to emerge. State Director David Fladeboe had this to say:

“It is alarming that as we near $17 trillion in national debt, Congress continues to display an unhealthy addiction to spending while exhibiting no desire for finding a cure.

“Here in Wisconsin, we made the tough choices that were necessary to turn a $3.6 billion deficit into a continuously growing surplus. Folks in Wisconsin and across the nation don’t want more spending for Christmas—they want the same responsible budget decisions we fought for in the Badger State made in the nation’s capital.

“Policies are more important than any politician, and sometimes we have to hold friends accountable for their bad ideas.”
