AFP: RETURN BUDGET SURPLUS TO TAXPAYERS
MADISON — Americans for Prosperity – Wisconsin is urging the legislature to return a reported billion-dollar budget surplus to the taxpayers who earned it.
State Director David Fladeboe released the following statement on Thursday in reaction to the revenue reports:
“We can’t say it enough: It’s Working! Once again, Wisconsin is in the envious position of having to decide what to do with a budget surplus. Our economy is roaring back and the taxpayers deserve all the reward. It’s time again to pass a tax cut that will keep more money in the pockets of hard-working Wisconsin families. They’ve earned it, they should keep it.
“The Governor and Legislature have done great work to reduce our income and property taxes this session and I hope this will continue with the latest surplus numbers. We need responsible tax reform that simplifies our tax code and allows more people to keep the money they work hard for. I look forward to seeing the final numbers and hearing the plans from Governor Walker at his annual State of the State address.”
