Final Bulk Terminal Scoping Hearing is in Tacoma, Thurs Oct 17th
The last of the important Bulk Terminal Scoping Hearings is happening in Tacoma on Thursday of this week. This is a very important final hearing. Situated in Tacoma, between Seattle and Portland, hundreds of environmental extremists are going to be bussed in from all over. Even from out-of-state! We must have your support to counter their numbers!
The scoping hearings are not just about coal. It is about creating jobs! Did you know that 40% of Washington State jobs are dependent on trade? We need the private investment in our trade infrastructure which supports small and medium sized businesses which make up 85% of the exports, like agriculture for instance. Building competitive trade hubs will serve the wider community with indirect economic benefits.
But the most important reason to speak up at this hearing is because the Dept. of Ecology has announced they intend to give a ‘global review’ of the Terminal export facilities. This global review is unprecedented! What does coal burning in China have to do with situating export terminals in Washington State? Imagine if Washington State couldn’t export! Our State’s existing and future export investments (like airplanes, agriculture, electronics, timber, plus the smaller manufacturing) would be irrecoverably harmed! Please join us in asking they conduct an individual review!
I know it is a busy time, but we just have to have YES on Exports! YES on JOBS! people show up to counter the massive effort from the opposition! We are making a BBQ starting at 4pm so you can get a bite to eat and ask us questions before the big hearing. Please help us by grabbing some friends, family and neighbors to drive to Tacoma for support.
Please RSVP here so we know you are coming!
