Pebble Mine Project Deserves a Fair Chance to Make Its Case to EPA
Washington State Director, Nansen Malin, cuts through the posturing from both sides of the issue and delivers a message that not many Washingtonians are aware of: when the EPA evaluated the project and concluded it could harm the environment, they did so without even considering the real plan for the mine. Instead, they used a hypothetical plan that may or may not resemble what Pebble Limited Partnership actually proposes.
Nansen’s piece points out that we should, at the least, allow the corporation time to submit their real plan, and then see whether or not it satisfies our rightfully strict environmental impact standards.
