September 23, 2013 J

The median income in the Seattle area (half the residents made more money, half less) was was $65,677 in 2012, not very much more than $65,405 in 2011.

That’s a little better than the rest of the U.S., where the national median household income was $53,607 in 2012, up a bit from $53,545 in 2011.

According to the 2012 U.S. Census Bureau 2012 American Community Survey, 11.7 percent of people in the Seattle area were in poverty in 2012, which was not statistically different from 11.9 percent in 2011. And in 2012, 13 percent of the area’s population lacked health insurance coverage, up a bit from 12.9 percent in 2011.
