Transportation Taxes: No Deal!

February 22, 2013

As you have probably heard by now, the General Assembly has come up with a “deal” to raise funds for transportation. Well, it sure isn’t a deal for Virginia’s taxpayers.

A plan that started out as a $2.4 billion dollar tax increase is now nearly $6.1 billion in new and higher taxes once fully implemented over five years. Plus, new regional taxing authorities imposed by this ‘agreement’ could potentially add nearly $550 million tax dollars per year in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia. These tax increases come by way of a higher sales tax, higher car tax, an internet tax scheme, and a higher diesel fuel tax.

We need you to take action today. Click here or use the Take Action button above to tell lawmakers that your family cannot afford more money out of their wallets. We need to prioritize spending in Richmond, not ask Virginians for more and more money we don’t have.

Remember, you must act very quickly. The future of our Commonwealth depends on it!
