Some Did the Right Thing...

January 03, 2013

We hope that you and your family had a joyous holiday season! Much has happened over the past month that I’d like to bring to your attention. Between the fiscal cliff bill vote, our up-coming gas tax fight and our ‘Day at the Capitol’ event, our team is certainly keeping busy.

Fiscal cliff and your hard work: Well, your hard word certainly did pay off in Virginia. While we did not receive the overall outcome that we had hoped for, some Representatives – including the entire congressional republican delegation in Virginia – voted in opposition to the fiscal cliff bill. We originally were concerned that a few of Virginia’s republican congressional leaders would let us down, so we, along with you, our activists, lobbied them and were successful. Not a single republican congressman in Virginia voted in support of the fiscal cliff bill. Please join us in thanking them by calling them: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/.

Gas Tax Fight: this is an issue that will be at the forefront for AFP-VA. At a time when Virginia’s families are being taxed left and right by Washington, the last thing Richmond needs to do is to propose raising another tax increase. With this in mind, we’ll have many up-coming initiatives to fight this tax and we’ll certainly need your help. Be on the lookout as we continue this discussion.

Last, but not least, mark your calendar for our ‘Day at the Capitol’ which is to take place on Wednesday, January 30th, in Richmond! We’ll have a couple of buses coming from around the Commonwealth, so be on the lookout for more info to come

Thank you for standing for economic freedom with us!
