Kathleen Murphy Doubles Down on Failure with Medicaid Comments
Forcing Doctors to Take Medicaid Recipients is Cuban-Style Health Care
Richmond, VA – Americans for Prosperity – Virginia responded today to Kathleen Murphy’s outrageous recommendation that the federal government force doctors to take Medicaid and Medicare recipients. Murphy is a candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates, which is debating whether to expand the state Medicaid program under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
“Government mandates that force doctors to accept Medicaid recipients would hurt the folks who need the most help,” explained Dave Schwartz, Virginia state director of Americans for Prosperity. “This extreme policy would create longer waits, doctor shortages and a dramatic drop in the quality of care for our most vulnerable citizens.”
Americans for Prosperity – Virginia has been the state’s leading grassroots opposition to expanding Medicaid, noting that Medicaid recipients face poorer health care outcomes that patients on private insurance.
