Americans for Prosperity Denounces Proposed Meals Tax in Campbell County

Richmond, VA – The Virginia chapter of Americans for Prosperity opposes any tax increase proposed by the Campbell County Board of Supervisors.

“Now is not the time to be raising taxes on Campbell County Families. Like the hardworking families of Campbell County have done for the last several years, it is time for Campbell County Supervisors to learn to live within their means,” stated Audrey Jackson, Virginia State Director of Americans for Prosperity.

Stop the Obama Healthcare Takeover Virginia!

January 27, 2012 J

The healthcare takeover is coming to Virginia and you need to know how this is going to affect your ability to take care of you and your family's health.

The Obama Healthcare takeover law directs the states to create a health care exchange by January 1, 2014. The Federal government promises flexibility to design the Exchange as states see fit but a simple review of Health and Human Resources (HHS) requirements show that flexibility is available in name only. With each new federal regulation and restriction states’ “flexibility” is undermined and the usefulness of exchanges is diminished.

What's an exchange? In theory, an Exchange is a market-based mechanism giving consumers a simple, transparent and innovative way to purchase health insurance. The Exchanges as created by the President and HHS, however, are far from simple, transparent or innovative.

2012 Policy Agenda

Support a Virginia budget which will include no tax increases, reduces spending levels and suggest various program cuts:

• Elimination of redundant state agencies and commissions all while making government smaller and more efficient. (SJ66 / HJ49)

• State pension (VRS) reform (HB1129 / HB1130)

Support Property Rights:

• A Constitutional Amendment to protect private property. (SJ3 / HJ3)

• Makes incorporation of urban development areas optional rather than mandatory. Any locality that has previously adopted urban development areas may, and upon voter petition shall, reconsider such action. (SB 274 / HB92 / HB794 / HB869)

• Allow landowners to hunt on their own property on Sundays. Also, this bill would allow persons who have the written permission of the landowner to hunt on the landowner's property on Sundays. (SB173 / HB369)

Obama’s Electronic Medical Records Requirements Already Causing Job Loss

January 10, 2012 J

Via BigGovernment.com:

While the Old Media has been ecstatic over recent job numbers, claiming that some 200,000 jobs have been added to the economy, we should note that while Obama giveth Obama also taketh away. The media may be trying to claim the President has “created or saved” jobs (the latest weasel word is he’s created job opportunity) but his policies have also cost jobs. In particular his policies are costing jobs in the medical field.
