Americans for Prosperity-Virginia and the New River Valley Tea Party Denounce Montgomery County Real Estate Tax Hike

Richmond, VA – The Virginia chapter of Americans for Prosperity and the New River Valley Tea Party have joined efforts to oppose any tax increase proposed by the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors. Montgomery County Supervisors are trying to increase the county property tax rate as much as 32 percent.

“This tax hike will increase the burden on every family and business by several hundred dollars,” explained Audrey Jackson, Virginia State Director of Americans for Prosperity. “Local government may see dollar signs when they think of raising taxes, but in the real world, these tax increases cut into the pocketbooks of our county’s families and small businesses.”

Tell Your State Senator to Pass the Budget

March 02, 2012 J

With the March 10th deadline approaching, the Virginia Senate has an opportunity to pass a fiscally responsible budget that puts our state back on the path to prosperity.

Tell your state senator to stop dragging their feet and pass a budget that looks out for the best interest of the taxpayer. Tell the Virginia Senate that it's time to stop playing partisan poltics with the well-being of the citizens.

Stop the Obama Healthcare Takeover Virginia!

January 27, 2012 J

The healthcare takeover is coming to Virginia and you need to know how this is going to affect your ability to take care of you and your family's health.

The Obama Healthcare takeover law directs the states to create a health care exchange by January 1, 2014. The Federal government promises flexibility to design the Exchange as states see fit but a simple review of Health and Human Resources (HHS) requirements show that flexibility is available in name only. With each new federal regulation and restriction states’ “flexibility” is undermined and the usefulness of exchanges is diminished.

What's an exchange? In theory, an Exchange is a market-based mechanism giving consumers a simple, transparent and innovative way to purchase health insurance. The Exchanges as created by the President and HHS, however, are far from simple, transparent or innovative.
