Americans for Prosperity Urging MIRC Chairman to Vote against Medicaid Expansion

Culpeper, VA – Americans for Prosperity – Virginia activists are returning to the district of state senator Emmett Hanger tomorrow, Saturday October 5, for the 3rd door-to-door canvass in a week to pressure the Senator to vote against Medicaid expansion. Last Saturday 50 AFP-VA activists knocked on over 2,000 doors in Staunton to educate constituents about Medicaid expansion and put grassroots pressure on the Senator to oppose Medicaid expansion.

“We’ve given Senator Hanger the opportunity to hear from our activists twice in Richmond and once in his own district, but he still won’t stop Obamacare and Medicaid Expansion in Virginia,” explained Dave Schwartz, Virginia State Director of Americans for Prosperity. “On Saturday, dozens of AFP activists in his district will encourage their neighbors to show him just how many Virginians oppose dumping our most vulnerable citizens into a broken Medicaid system.”

Senator Hanger is the chairman of the Medicaid Innovation and Reform Commission, the temporary body appointed by the legislature to recommend changes to Medicaid to the General Assembly. Americans for Prosperity has been the leading critic of expanding Medicaid, as proposed under ObamaCare, due to the poor quality of care for patients on Medicaid and the outrageous costs it will foist on Virginia taxpayers.
