Statement on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia's decision invalidating the EPA's Cross-State Pollution Rule

August 21, 2012

Statement of Peggy Venable,Texas State Director for Americans for Prosperity, on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia’s decision invalidating the EPA’s Cross-State Pollution Rule:

“Today’s decision is a victory for federalism, a victory for the U.S. Constitution,a victory for Texas workers and the Texas economy, and a victory for affordable domestic energy for all Americans. The state’s electric grid provider — ERCOT (the Electric Reliability Council of Texas) — warned that the EPA’s rule posed a serious threat to electric reliability in Texas, creating the potential for serious economic harm to our state. In an increasingly unstable world, our economy and our security depend upon affordable, reliable power from all sources, including Texas natural gas and clean coal, two power sources targeted by the Obama administration’s overzealous EPA. The fact that former EPA administration Al Armendariz — who resigned after suggesting that environmental regulators need to “crucify” private businesss — is upset shows the court is on the right track.”
