Healthcare & Entitlements Issues

The national debt isnt the only burden big government is placing on young Americans. While the nations eyes are focused on the federal debt clock looming toward $16 trillion, local governments are accumulating massive debt as well.
Few people are following local government debt which has hit $1.785 trillion nationwide. Across the country, local debt is larger than all local revenue and thats not counting the interest payments.
Texas is second in the country in local debt, behind only California.
According to the Texas Bond Review Board, local governments in Texas are $192.7 billion in debt, and a whopping $322.3 billion when interest is added.
We are leaving our children and grandchildren a legacy of debt. That is not the legacy most of us want to leave future generations.

We commend the work of Rep. Geoff Davis and the Republican leadership for passing this critical reform to restore accountability and constitutional balance to the federal regulatory process, said AFP VP Policy Phil Kerpen. This is a major victory for the American people and we urge the Senate to take up and pass this bill as soon possible.
The House voted 241-184 to pass H.R. 10, the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act (REINS) Act. Republicans unanimously supported the bill, which requires Congress to vote on economically significant regulations before they can take effect. Democrats overwhelmingly opposed the bill, with 184 voting against it and only four voting for it.

"God grants liberty only to those that love it and are always ready to guard it and defend it." Daniel Webster
It is humbling to know the tremendous sacrifices those in uniform make for our country and for all of us. We do not need to wear a uniform to defend freedom, but we must work even harder to defend freedom at home knowing the work our soldiers are all doing in dangerous places around the world.
[img_assist|nid=25638|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=224|height=300]We are especially proud of former State Rep. Carl Isett (R-Lubbock), who serves as a Navy Commander in Afghanistan. Isett is a patriot and a staunch conservative in fact, he recently shared with us some crazy uses of tax dollars during war:
When the temperature was in the 130's, we import all of our ice from Jordan. (Think through the expense of trucking refrigerated trucks by the hundreds to supply ice to the entire theater.)

Dont believe everything you read. Is Texas a wealthy state growing jobs and the economy or a poor state?
The Center for Public Policy Priorities has an opinion piece out this past weekend: Texas' low-wage status is clearly not a good thing (available at the Austin American-Statesman: http://www.statesman.com/opinion/insight/texas-low-wage-status-is-clearly-not-a-1965271.html).
Lets get the facts straight. First, the state did not cut K-12 education funding as the CPPP article alleges. The state cut the rate of funding increases. Texas has funded public education at five times the rate of student population increases. We spend only 50 cents of each education dollar on instruction and ISDs have one non-teacher for every teacher they employ. It's about time we put some accountability in education spending and tighten ISD's belts.

The Texas watchdog leaders who attended the national Defending the American Dream Summit have given us tremendous feedback. Not only was the Summit informative, exciting, fun and action-packed...but the Occupy Wall Street/DC protesters gave activists new resolve to fight harder to take back America from these radicals.
It's been in the news -- the Occupy WS/DC protest turned ugly. Texas member Jason Moore was in the middle of the protest, as were some staff (Eliza). It is clear we are on the right side, working to expand economic freedom and individual liberties.
Here is the Daily Caller video of the protesters trying to storm the DC Convention center during our Reagan Dinner: http://dailycaller.com/2011/11/05/chaos-video/
NOTE: the clip includes in appropriate language used by demonstrators and I do not recommend viewing it with minors.
