Texas Falls from Top 10 in Business Tax Climate

October 09, 2013
Texas has fallen from the top 10 in our business tax climate according to a study out this morning from our friends at the Tax Foundation. We may be #1 in job creation, but imagine what we could do if we eliminate the onerous and harmful modified franchise/gross receipts/margins tax in Texas?
The Tax Foundation’s 2014 edition of the State Business Tax Climate Index enables business leaders, government policymakers, and taxpayers to gauge how their states’ tax systems compare.  Our corporate tax rate, sales tax rate, and property tax rate are holding Texas back from becoming an even better job creator and business climate.  Texas can do better!

The 10 best states in this year’s Index are:

  1. Wyoming
  2. South Dakota
  3. Nevada
  4. Alaska
  5. Florida
  6. Washington
  7. Montana
  8. New Hampshire
  9. Utah
  10. Indiana
(Notice how Texas is NOT listed.)
