AFP calls on Congress not to raise taxes
Asks activists to contact Representatives
Arlington, VA – Today Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s largest advocate for economic freedom, is asking its more than two million activists nationwide to take action to help prevent a bad deal from going forward.
AFP President Tim Phillips said, “It’s deeply disappointing to see Speaker Boehner and President Obama working together to raise taxes on Americans while still not offering any substantive cuts to wasteful government spending.
“What we’ve witnessed so far is an unserious effort at deficit reduction from both sides. Even the anemic cuts being proposed are being eroded through accounting gimmicks.
“That’s why today AFP is once again asking activists across the country to make their voices heard, and let politicians in Washington know that millions of Americans still demand fiscal responsibility.”
Today Americans for Prosperity sent the following Action Alert that enables free market advocates to send a letter or email directly to their Representative in Congress. In addition, AFP has been connecting thousands of live phone calls from activists to a target list of lawmakers, delivering the message that Congress must cut a minimum of $109 billion from next year’s budget.
