Americans for Prosperity State Director Slams President’s Fiscal Cliff Message
HARRISBURG, PA – Jennifer Stefano, State Director of Americans for Prosperity – PA, today released the following statement in response to President Obama’s speech on the fiscal cliff in Hatfield, PA.
“President Obama keeps telling us he wants a ‘balanced approach’ to dealing with our nation’s looming tax hikes and deficit problems. Mr President, that word doesn’t mean what you think it means,” said Jennifer Stefano, Americans for Prosperity. “What Obama means by ‘balanced approach’ is a massive tax hike on the men and women creating jobs and helping rebuild our economy, while doing nothing to address our bloated federal deficit.”
Americans for Prosperity has been urging all members of Congress to stick to the agreed-upon $109 billion in spending cuts that were promised as part of the Budget Control Act of 2012, and to extend the current tax rates for all Americans. Most economist agree that raising taxes during a weak economic recovery is bad policy.
“I hope Pennsylvania’s Senators and Representatives will not attempt to balance Washington’s spending problems on the pocketbooks of our hardworking families,” Stefano continued. ”We want our legislators to show real leadership and offer a fiscally responsible, pro-growth counterweight to the President’s reckless bid to hike taxes while still spending our nation into oblivion.”
