Americans for Prosperity Supports Unanimous Senate Vote to End Exemptions for Threats, Stalking and Harassment

April 08, 2014

Harrisburg, PA — Americans for Prosperity-Pennsylvania offers the following comments on the unanimous (48-0) support of House Bill 1154 from the Senate yesterday.

“We stand in solidarity with the entire Senate, who unanimously voted to take a stand against allowing unions to stalk, threaten and otherwise harass individuals in Pennsylvania,” said Jennifer Stefano, State Director of Americans for Prosperity Pennsylvania.  “For too long, fostering fear and intimidation have been legal in our Commonwealth.  We are pleased to see such positive strides being taken to end this period in Pennsylvania.”

House Bill 1154, sponsored by Representative Ron Miller (R-York) would remove current exemptions allowing union members to harass, stalk and threaten the use of Weapons of Mass Destruction during a labor dispute.

Spotlight was recently drawn on the issue due to the indictment of 10 members of the Philadelphia Ironworkers Local 401 who are accused of burning down a Quaker meeting house in 2012.

The measure now heads to the House for a vote on concurrence.

Stefano continues, “We thank Rep. Miller for sponsoring this legislation and encourage the House to concur with Senate changes as quickly as possible.”
