COMMUNITY ORGANIZING IN SCRANTON: Countering President Obama’s Message

December 01, 2011 J

Americans for Prosperity-Pennsylvania hosted a gathering of activists and business leaders to offer an alternative message to President Obama's Jobs (killing) Bill speech in Scranton on Wednesday.

The message was a simple one: Presidents don't create jobs, businesses do! Those gathered were asking the President to offer innovative, pro-growth reforms, rather than continue to push Congress to pass his so-called "Jobs Bill", which constitutes little more than a rehashing of his failed government stimulus program of 2009.

PITTSBURGH, PA – Americans for Prosperity, the premier free market grassroots mobilizing group, today launched a nationwide radio campaign targeting Representative Charlie Dent (R-PA-15) and other Congressional Republicans. Despite their rhetoric to the contrary, these powerful appropriators are failing to cut enough in the first minibus appropriations bill to prevent billions of dollars worth of spending increases.

Pennsylvania Legislative Update: OCTOBER 7, 2011

October 12, 2011 J

House actions:

  • The House Labor and Industry Committee voted several prevailing wage bills out of committee (HB709, HB1191, HB1271, HB1329, HB1541, HB1685). The Prevailing Wage Act of 1961 requires workers on public projects costing more than $25,000 to be paid the prevailing wage in their region. If these bills are passed they will force this artificially low project cost to conform to the Consumer Price Index of the previous calendar year and they would bring the prevailing wage in line with going market wages.

June 13, 2011 J

AFP-PA has issued the following statement in which we strongly urge the governor and legislators to do the right thing with our money.
