HARRISBURG – Americans for Prosperity Pennsylvania State Director, Jennifer Stefano is asserting the benefits available to Pennsylvania workers as well the Pennsylvania economy overall if the Commonwealth were to become the nation’s 25th Right to Work state.
“Our working families are overburdened by a growing state and federal government which means their taxes will only continue to go up to pay for the increased government spending while too many of them see their wages stagnating or their hours cut,” said Jennifer Stefano, State Director of Americans for Prosperity Pennsylvania. “Worker Freedom, commonly referred to as Right to Work, will benefit Pennsylvania workers and stimulate the Pennsylvania economy by attracting new employers who will create more jobs for our working families.”
Stefano’s remarks are part of her participation as a panelist in the “Free Enterprise Day on the Hill,” hosted today by the Keystone Chapter of the Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. Other panelists include: Gene Barr, PA Chamber; Kevin Shivers, NFIB; Brent Seilhammer, PA Builders Association; and Josh Quintar. The panel will be moderated by RJ Harris of WHP 580AM Talk Radio.
“Right to Work states grew private employment by 1,667% from 2002 to 2012, which equals 2 million jobs. As a result, Right to Work states experienced a 174% increase in population during the same time period and a 65% increase in GDP. In addition, Right to Work states saw a 110% increase in personal income from 2001 to 2011,” continued Stefano. “Becoming the 25th Right to Work state is the right thing for Pennsylvania workers. I call on our elected officials in Harrisburg to do the right thing and pass Right to Work.”
