Americans for Prosperity Pennsylvania Encourages Taxpayers to Speak Out Against Corbett’s Medicaid Expansion Plan

December 06, 2013

HARRISBURG – Americans for Prosperity Pennsylvania is responding to today’s announcement that the Department of Public Welfare will be holding a series of events and webinars to receive public feedback on Governor Corbett’s Medicaid Expansion plan.

“As long as Corbett’s Healthy PA Plan includes taking ObamaCare Medicaid dollars to add up to 1 million new people to an entitlement, AFP-PA will encourage taxpayers to oppose the plan.  We hope that more than Administration officials and lobbyists who support Governor Corbett’s ill-advised and unfortunate Medicaid Expansion plan will weigh in during this public comment period,” said Jennifer Stefano, State Director of Americans for Prosperity Pennsylvania.  “We strongly encourage hard-working Pennsylvania taxpayers, who will foot the bill for this expansion plan to reach out and make their voice heard on how their money will be spent.”

The public hearings and webinars will take place between December 16, 2013 and January 9, 2014.  A complete list of dates and locations can be found here.  Anyone wishing to comment must register in advance.

“Expanding an already overburdened and failing program with borrowed federal dollars that could eventually dry up is not compassion, it is irresponsible,” continued Stefano.  “Governor Corbett’s plan to expand Medicaid is neither in the best fiscal interest of our Commonwealth or in the best physical interest of those who may receive coverage.  We hope the taxpayers of Pennsylvania take advantage of this opportunity to let him know that they oppose this plan.”
