State director Stefano available for comment as vote approaches.
Washington Crossing, PA – Americans for Prosperity – Pennsylvania is expressing their support for legislation aimed at postponing the employer and individual mandates set forth in Obamacare. The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote tomorrow (Wednesday) on both bills.
“President Obama’s Administration last week announced the delay of the employer mandate, which shows how truly horrible this provision will be for American businesses and is a clear demonstration that this health care take-over should be repealed in its entirety,” stated Jennifer Stefano, State Director of Americans for Prosperity-PA. “In addition, the burden of the individual mandate will overwhelmingly fall on the shoulders of the hard-working families who continue to struggle in this economy. These provisions should be postponed and then repealed before any more damage is done.”
The Authority for Mandate Delay Act (H.R. 2667) would delay the mandate for employers. Under the President’s health care law, if an employer has more than 50 employees and fails to provide them with insurance, the employer must pay a $2,000 per employee fine to the IRS. In addition, the House is expected to vote on the Fairness for American Families Act (H.R. 2668) which would delay the mandate for individuals.
“While we continue to advocate for the full repeal of Obamacare, these votes to postpone two of its more onerous mandates are a step in the right direction,” added Stefano. “We urge all members of the Pennsylvania delegation to vote in favor of these postponements and put the working families of Pennsylvania first.”
