Washington Crossing, PA – Americans for Prosperity-Pennsylvania, the state’s largest grassroots free market organization with more than 120,000 members, is slamming Enroll America for using its tax exempt status to benefit special interest groups, especially big insurance.

Recently, the government watchdog group, Cause of Action, asked the IRS to withdraw the tax exempt status of Enroll America.  Enroll America claims on its website that it is “a nonpartisan 501(C)(3) Organization Whose Mission Is To Maximize The Number Of Uninsured Americans Who Enroll In Health Coverage Made Available By The Affordable Care Act.”  Unfortunately, the stakeholders in Enroll America are corporations whose bottom line will directly benefit from more people being signed onto Obamacare.

“Cause of Action is correct in their filing with the IRS.  Enroll America is not a charity, it is using its tax exempt status to push people into Obamacare which will directly benefit the board members and other corporations funding the organization,” stated Jennifer Stefano, State Director of Americans for Prosperity-Pennsylvania.  “This type of corrupting relationship between former Obama Administration officials, Big Insurance companies and other corporations that stand to make money off of people enrolling in Obamacare is exactly why the President’s healthcare law continues to lose support.”

AFP-Pennsylvania pointed out that one of the key authors of Obamacare has dubbed the implementation of the law a “train wreck.”

Stefano continued, “Health insurance companies should not be profiting from a law that hurts the economy, destroys jobs, and undermines the nation’s fiscal health.  Political activists are being lined up to carry the weight for a trillion-dollar industry to force people to buy a private company’s product they may neither want nor need.  Taxpayers and patients lost while insurance companies won when Obamacare passed. The same continues to be true as the law is fully implemented. The same groups that spent millions of dollars to pass Obamacare are now the same groups behind Enroll America and they all have the same objective: the bottom line.”
