Josephine County Fees Gone Wild

Josephine County Commissioners are getting creative with funding government, but this maybe an example of government gone wild. Jack Swift writes about Josephine County Commissioner’s decision to give authority to their Departments to fine citizens in violation of regulations to fund County Departments in the absence of sufficient tax dollar funding. Instead of actually reducing County costs, they have chosen to let Departments use fines to fund the Departments. Clearly only true bureaucrats like Commissioners Walker and Heck would devise a plan like this rather than listening to the voters that rejected a tax increase which would have funded the County government to a greater capacity.
