AFP to Obama: Allow American Coal Exports!

July 24, 2012

PORTLAND, OR – Today Americans for Prosperity-Oregon rallied over a hundred citizens in Portland, protesting President Obama’s failed economic policies and telling Obama Oregon needs more jobs, not more empty promises. Following Obama’s visit, Oregon State Director Karla Kay Edwards issued the following statement:

“President Obama’s visit to Portland today is just another demonstration of how out-of-touch he is with the average American.  At a time when Oregon families are struggling to make ends meet, President Obama is visiting our state not to asses our economy or talk with workers, but to ask for donations to his campaign.

“I urge the President to put as much work into fixing the economy as he is into saving his job. It is time the President adopt his promised “all of the above” energy policy, and allow the export of American coal from our ports. There is no doubt Oregon workers and our economy would benefit from American coal being sold to overseas buyers. So Mr. President, it’s time to get your EPA out of the way.

“Oregon cannot wait until after November, we need jobs now.  The solution is clear: peel back the unnecessary red tape holding back economic growth here in Oregon by allowing American coal exports. Oregon needs jobs now.”
