An initiative petition is circulating that will create a Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights in the State of Oklahoma.  The initiative, modeled after Sen. Randy Brogdon’s (R-Owasso) legislation, would limit government spending to the sum of inflation plus population growth.  Furthermore, the proposal does away with the Rainy Day Fund, which has become a slush fund for the Governor and the Legislature, and creates a true emergency fund and a budget stabilization fund.

Claremore Daily ProgressDear Editor:The editorial in Wednesday’s Daily Progress concerning the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights was filled with misconceptions.

The big government, big spending liberals are at it again, slinging around all sorts of misinformation and scare tactics about the effects of a Taxpayers Bill of Rights.  Mainly they claim that TABOR is destroying Colorado. 

As the NTU Blog reported, Tom Coburn (R-OK) pushed through an amendment yesterday that will provide much needed transparency in the budget process.
